I’ve been saying it for years, and I’ve been told that I’m talking nonsense. I’ve asserted that men and women are not two different species, we are not incomprehensible to each other, and if people would just talk a bit more and stop making stupid and sexist assumptions about the other gender, we’d all be far better off.
I’ve rubbished the whole “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus” malarky as being patently ridiculous, and every bloody time, someone has laughed, shaken their head, and dismissed it out of hand. Of course men and women are different. Look at how men are so into sports, and women love shopping.
Silly Claire, where do you get these ideas?
Well, I would like to present to the audience Exhibit A: VINDICATION.
The notion that men and women are fundamentally different in how they think simply as a result of their gender is false. Allow me to quote:
So should we abandon our search for the “real” differences between the sexes and give up this “pernicious pinkification of little girls”, as one scientist has put it?
Yes, we should, Eliot insisted. “There is almost nothing we do with our brains that is hard-wired. Every skill, attribute and personality trait is moulded by experience.”
Can we please move on now and accept that people are from Earth?
